What a spectacular tea! Picked in December 2025 and procecssed in the gentle style of a first flush black tea, the cup is all honey and orchard fruit: ripe apricot and pear lifted by a note of muscat grape with soft florals that turn almost nectar sweet as the tea cools.
Lakyrsiew Estate sits on the southern bank of Lake Umiam in Meghalaya (India), planted on untouched soil in 2002 and farmed organically ever since by Nayantara and Geert Linnebank. They make only small batch teas. A winter harvest from a garden this small is rare. The cold, slow-growing season concentrates the sweetness and aromatics into something more subtle and refined than the spring flush.
