2026 Wild Tree Raw Puerh Maocha from Pha Hom Pok National Park (Thailand)

This wild tree raw puerh comes from deep in the forest of Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park in northern Thailand, on the country's second highest mountain, near the border with Myanmar. The tea trees grow wild between roughly 1,500 and 2,000 meters. They're a wild variety more often used for white tea than for puerh, and a tea maker from a village on the mountain has spent about ten years working to make puerh from them.

Fruity, light and silky, with no bitterness or astringency. A light acidity keeps it fresh, with citrus notes like lemon, yuzu and pomelo, and touches of peach and tropical fruits like passion fruit and pineapple. It reminds us just a bit of yerba mate, without the dense grassiness. Very refreshing and enlivening, and quite interesting.

2026 production. Maocha is loose leaf raw puerh that hasn't been pressed into a cake.
