Tsukikage Matcha by Ippodo is a limited edition, seasonal matcha available only in the autumn.   We were able to snag a few boxes (so exciting!) and it is good!  Tsukikage matcha is very balanced, with a nice initial attack that transitions into yummy layers of sweetness and richness.  Suitable for both usucha (thin tea) and koicha (thick tea), as well as it makes a really nice matcha latte because of its pleasant astringency.

Ippodo Tea is a highly regarded Japanese tea company that began in 1717.  They are well-respected for their nuanced flavor profiles, their expertise in tea cultivation and processing, their consistency, and the freshness and vibrancy of their teas.  All of their teas are from the Uji region of Kyoto Prefecture.

Each box is 20 grams.  A typical serving size is 2 grams for usucha and 4 grams for koicha.  A typical serving size for matcha lattes varies quite a bit, but usually it's around 4 grams.
