International Edition #5 (in English): Yunnan
This issue heads to Yunnan, the province in southwest China where puerh comes from and where some of the world's oldest tea trees still grow. At 100 pages, it's the biggest t-Magazine yet. The stories were reported and photographed on location, and you can feel it. National Geographic Explorer Justin Jin spends time with tea families in Jingmai Shan, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Jeff Fuchs, known for his expedition along the Ancient Tea Horse Road, shares portraits and landscapes from that journey. And t-Magazine co-founder Olaf Tarmas travels through Yunnan before crossing into northern Thailand to visit tea artist Olivier Schneider.
There's plenty for puerh lovers here, from how it's made to a look back at the wild boom years and a guide to buying it. The issue also travels well beyond Yunnan. Diana Jendoubi visits tea projects in Texas and festivals across the US, and there are stories on single-origin matcha, an incense ceremony in Taiwan, and ceramicist Inge Nielsen.
This issue contains translated articles from German editions, as well as articles produced exclusively in English.
