2026 Kuma's Yame Sencha Kirai 31
Another single cultivar sencha from Masahiro Kuma and Kazumi Nakatani, grown without agrochemicals in their fields in Yame. Kirari 31 is a newer cultivar bred from Sakimidori and Saemidori, and it inherited the best of both: generous umami, gentle sweetness, and very little bitterness. This is the third year they have shaded this particular field, and the bushes are now ten years old, which shows up in the cup as real weight and depth. Silky on the palate, with a sweet aroma that reminds us of freshly cooked rice and a clean finish free of any sharpness.
