Tie Luo Han ("Iron Monk") is one of the Four Famous rock oolongs from Wuyishan. Legend says its mother bush was discovered by a warrior monk, and the tea lives up to its bold namesake with robust character and distinctive burnt bamboo notes. Traditional charcoal roasting over several months develops the tea's resinous, woodsy depth through multiple firing and resting cycles. This preserves the mineral complexity that defines quality yancha—the "yan yun" or "rock rhyme" from Wuyishan's volcanic soil.
Complex and captivating, with deeply woodsy aromatics, intense smoothness, and notes of cooked sugars and resin. The mineral character is prominent, reflecting Wuyishan's rocky cliff terroir.
Made by Liu Dexi, a fifth-generation tea maker with over three decades of experience crafting Wuyi yancha. He studied under one of the region's most respected masters and now teaches traditional techniques to others in the Wuyi tea community. His dedication to authentic, hands-on craftsmanship earned him designation as a Representative Inheritor of Traditional Craft for Wuyi Yancha—one of only sixteen people in Wuyishan to receive this recognition.
