We absolutely love these Tie Dye White Huaning Gaiwans! We are calling them "tie dye" because the base of the glaze is white, but they have these lovely touches of blue tied into the glaze making the overall effect of a tie dye. These gaiwans hold approximately 115ml of liquid and measure about 10.2 cm wide, 5.8 cm tall without the lid, and 8 cm tall with the lid on.
A gaiwan gives you excellent control over your steeping and may very well become your primary steeping method. The flared rim keeps your fingers away from the heat, the mouth of the bowl paired with the lid help you pour off your liquor at the speed of your choosing. It is a fun and frankly delicious way to prepare teas.
Huaning pottery comes from Yunnan province and has over 600 years of history. Local potters still harvest clay from nearby hills and hand-blend their glazes from natural minerals. The tradition dates back to the Ming Dynasty, and Huaning pottery was once considered the finest in the ancient Dian kingdom.
Each gaiwan comes in its own sturdy gift box.
Note: Each piece is handmade and one of a kind. Product color and surface details may vary a bit due to photographic lighting or monitor settings.
