We absolutely love these Tie Dye White Huaning Gaiwans! We are calling them "tie dye" because the base of the glaze is white, but they have these lovely touches of blue tied into the glaze making the overall effect of a tie dye. These gaiwans hold approximately 110 to 125ml of liquid and measure about 10cm wide, 6cm tall without the lid, and 8cm tall with the lid on.
Huaning pottery comes from Yunnan province and has over 600 years of history. Local potters still harvest clay from nearby hills and hand-blend their glazes from natural minerals. The tradition dates back to the Ming Dynasty, and Huaning pottery was once considered the finest in the ancient Dian kingdom.
A gaiwan gives you excellent control over your brewing. The glazed surface won't absorb flavors, so you can use it for any type of tea. This makes a great investment in your gongfu tea ware collection.
We have 9 gaiwans total in this family - the photos show several of them, but since each is handmade, the one you receive will be beautifully unique and won't look exactly like what's photographed. They're all closely related and simply gorgeous in their own way.
Each gaiwan comes in its own sturdy gift box.
