Taiwanese Mountain Tea, or 'Shan Cha,' is an incredibly intriguing black tea that we are so excited to be able to offer. It is made from a tea varietal indigenous to Taiwan, 'camellia formosenis,' and is one of the mother plants to two famous Taiwanese black tea cultivars, Ruby 18 and Hong Yun 21.
But, what puts this tea in the 'favorite black teas of all time' category is not its extremely unique provenance. It is the taste of the tea. It is darkly sweet, with qualities of baked grain, molasses, and baking spice. It is a deeply satisfying cup.
