Senjin no Mukashi Matcha from Yamamasa Koyamaen is a mid-tier matcha, just above Shikibu no Mukashi in their principal lineup. It presents a bold mouthfeel with notes of toasted seeds and a creamy sweetness. Lovely as koicha, usucha, and a latte.
Yamamasa Koyamaen is a traditional and historic tea company based in Uji, Japan, founded in 1861. They are well regarded for maintaining very high standards for their raw material, processing, and stone milling, and have won first prize 22 times at Japan's National Tea Competition.
A typical serving for usucha is 2 grams, while a typical serving for a matcha latte and koicha is 4 grams.
