Designed by ceramist David Birch and introduced in 1988, the Farmhouse became one of London Pottery's signature shapes. London Pottery teapots have been sold at Harrods and other UK retailers since the early 1980s.
This teapot includes a removable stainless steel mesh infuser basket for steeping loose leaf tea. The infuser lifts out cleanly when brewing is done, and the lid locks onto the infuser's handle to keep everything secure when you pour. The upright spout is angled to minimize dripping.
The glaze color takes its name from brown manganese-rich glazes developed at the Swinton pottery works in Yorkshire in the late 18th century. London Pottery revived the aesthetic for their modern Farmhouse line—a deep, glossy brown with natural variation in the glaze.
At 600 ml (20 fl oz), this makes two cups of tea. The earthenware is fired around 1200-1250°C (2192-2282°F). Like most earthenware, this pot may develop fine surface crazing over time as the glaze and clay expand and contract with temperature changes—this doesn't affect function.
Holds 600 ml (20 fl oz) maximum / approximately 550 ml (18.5 fl oz) at practical fill level
Dimensions: 16.8 cm (6.6") wide (spout to handle) × 12.2 cm (4.8") deep × 13.3 cm (5.2") tall
Weight: 610 grams (21.5 oz)
Made in China for London Pottery (UK design)
