Ikuyo Matcha by Ippodo Tea (30 gram box or 100 gram bag)

Ikuyo Matcha from Ippodo Tea is a high quality everyday matcha, suitable for thin tea (usucha) and matcha-based drinks like matcha lattes.  Ikuyo has a nice balance between astringency, umami, and sweetness but it is a bit more bitter-forward which makes it especially good for matcha lattes (to shine through the milk).  This is snappy, medium-bodied matcha that goes especially well with sweets.

Ippodo Tea is a highly regarded Japanese tea company that began in 1717.  They are well-respected for their nuanced flavor profiles, their expertise in tea cultivation and processing, their consistency, and the freshness and vibrancy of their teas.  All of their teas are from the Uji region of Kyoto Prefecture.

Choose between a 30 gram box or a 100 gram bag.  A typical serving of matcha (thin tea / usucha) is 2 grams, while a typical serving for a matcha latte is about 4 grams.
