Eiju Matcha by Marukyu Koyamaen is outstandingly refreshing with subtle creamy, slightly peanuty notes, complemented by a vegetal undertone reminiscent of spinach. It's fairly mild and less sensitive to temperature than other matchas from Marukyu Koyamaen, making it a fantastic ceremonial grade matcha for people who are serious about matcha but perhaps don't have a lot of experience or expertise yet. Eiju is suitable for making thin matcha (usucha) or thick matcha (koicha).
Marukyu Koyamaen is a producer of exceptional, and exceptionally popular, Uji matcha. Established in 1704, they have won numerous awards, including the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award and the Annual National Tea Competition.
A typical serving of matcha uses about 2 grams for usucha (thin matcha) and 4 grams for koicha (thick matcha).
