2025 Asatsuyu Sencha Japanese Green Tea
This beautiful single cultivar sencha features the Asatsuyu cultivar. Asatsuyu is known as "natural gyokuro" as it has much of the rich sweetness of gyokuro without having to go through a shading period. This selection does indeed showcase a sweet round umami, but it's by no means domineering or one-sided. This sencha is well-balanced and round with notes of bean and cooked vegetables. It's a fukamushi-style sencha, which means it's been longer steamed to accentuate color, sweetness, and umami.
Each bag is 100 grams. Harvested April 2025, Shizuoka.
