GIFT GIVING MADE EASY
The 2012 Shang Dou from Douji is an extremely fruity and refreshing mid-aged raw puerh. It's very easy drinking as the astringency is minimal and what is there comes out well-balanced in later steeps to add complexity and depth to the session. This is a perfect puerh to share with friends who you're trying to convince to join you in the puerh rabbit hole. We get intense notes of apricot and plum jam in early steeps with some notes typical of mid-aged raw coming in mid to late steeps (aged wood, hints of leather). Overall, this tea is smooth and even a bit juicy and actually kind of unusual in just how fruity and easy it is.
Douji (aka Yiwu Zhengshan Tea Company) became well-known in the 2000s for their blending and consistently high quality cakes. The Shang Dou is the entry-level offering in their "Four Dou" blended series which first launched in 2008.
Taiwan stored until early 2025. Each cake is 357 grams.
