GIFT GIVING MADE EASY
This dank big fella is super smooth and sweet, a great candidate for an easy going, satisfying, slightly elevated daily drinker. It's had some traditional storage, so if you enjoy Yee On teas, you'll likely enjoy this 2007 Haiwan as well.
The overall vibe is comfy and sweet with a bit of interesting pastry spice aromatics, dark sugars, and a feeling of walking through a forest in winter (should you be so lucky). The wet leaves smell of straight up beets and basement, but the liquor itself is very well integrated and balanced. The storage did exactly what it was meant to do, smoothing out any rough edges and making something highly drinkable.
An important note on appearance: these cakes arrived frosty, with a visible powdery white deposit on the leaves. This is "white frost," not mold. It is a normal and generally positive signature of traditionally stored puerh, made up of caffeine, catechins, and sugars that migrate out of the leaf during the active transformation phase of higher-humidity storage. It brushes off easily, dissolves in hot water, and does not affect the brewed liquor. Frost takes some getting used to visually, and traditionally stored cakes with frost are a hard sell in the US, so we are pricing these well below what they would otherwise go for.
Each cake is 500 grams. Wrappers are rather beat up and all cakes were opened and visually examined by us first. These cakes are not returnable.
