  • Traditional Anxi Tie Guan Yin Oolong

With notes of cooked peaches and caramel, this tasty classical oolong hearkens back to the time when Tie Guan Yin was made with higher oxidation and higher baking with a long and twisted leaf shape.

Most Tie Guan Yin oolong these days is made with a much greener style, more akin to a green tea really than what would have traditionally qualified as an oolong.  Those can be nice teas as well, of course, but this darker, more traditional Tie Guan Yin has a satisfyingly complex richness to it that you can't find in the greener style.  The deeper oxidation and longer, slower baking give the tea a sensation of cooked fruits, nuts, and sugars.  The more intense baking also means this tea is a great candidate for aging.

Made using 100% Red Heart Tie Guan Yin cultivar, without the use of any agrochemicals.   Spring 2022 Harvest.  Set aside to rest for a year and just released in summer 2023.
