  • Ummon Matcha by Ippodo Tea (20 and 40 gram cans)

Ummon Matcha is Ippodo Tea's most universally liked and highly regarded ceremonial grade matcha.  It's exquisitely rich with umami and sweetness and rather low in astringency and bitterness.  The finish is long, the aromas incredibly fresh, and the color a very vibrant green.  Ummon matcha is suitable for both thick (koicha) and thin (usucha) teas, and of course makes an incredibly luxurious matcha-based beverage.

Ippodo Tea is a highly regarded Japanese tea company that began in 1717.  They are well-respected for their nuanced flavor profiles, their expertise in tea cultivation and processing, their consistency, and the freshness and vibrancy of their teas.  All of their teas are from the Uji region of Kyoto Prefecture.

A typical serving for a bowl of usucha (thin tea) is 2 grams, so a 20 gram tin provides approximately 10 servings while a 40 gram tin provides approximately 20 servings of usucha.
