MIne Kaori Kama-iri Cha is an unblended, pan-roasted green tea from Kyushu Island, Japan. Certainly the vast majority of green tea that Japan produces is steamed tea, so you can expect a pan-roasted tea to be more mellow, toastier, and a bit nutty. That is definitely true for this Mine Kaori Kama-iri - it has warm notes of cooked rice, starchy vegetables, and roasted chestnuts. It's really quite lovely and extremely rare to find.
Mine Kaori is a cultivar developed in Japan specifically to make pan fired green teas. It comes from a cross between the yabukita and unkai culitvar.
Harvested May 2018.
