This classic tea is a must have tea for true aficionados. Like Curled Dragon Silver Tip, this tea is a complicated tea to make. They say that it takes a tea roaster 3 years to learn how to make the spear shaped finished tea leaves. The Dragonwell cultivar is unique in that the bud (a term for the terminal unopened leaf) is very small which allows the artisanal tea makers to create that spear shape. Dragonwell has a pleasing vegetal taste with a hint of hazelnuts and buttery finish.
This was a tribute tea to the emperors of China for centuries. The emperors and their endless entourages are gone, but fortunately for us the tea remains.
Organic Green Tea
Use 2 grams of tea for every 6 ounces of water. Generally this works out to a teaspoon per every 6 ounces of water. Steep for 3 minutes with 180-degree water.
