Organic Ceremonial Matcha is a delicious and vibrant stone ground green tea from Japan. There are several grades of matcha, 'ceremonial' means it is appropriate for and produced for drinking whisked (the traditional method of making matcha), as opposed to it being for culinary purposes (smoothies, baking, ice cream, etc).
Matcha, of course, has an important and interesting part in the history of tea and tea culture. Japan really learned about tea, tea culture and tea preparation from the Chinese via a traveling Japanese Buddhist monk in the 12th century. At that time (the Song Dynasty in China), all tea was whisked. So matcha grew up in the Song Dynasty and is still a direct link to that time.
